Privacy
What this site measures, what it does not, and who to write. Plain English, no fine print.
Visit counts
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It does not set cookies and does not follow you to other sites. It sees things like the page you opened, the site that sent you, your country and your browser type.
Google Analytics · active
We also use Google Analytics 4 (Measurement ID G-LSQ80LBGK9) to see which pages people read and how they found us. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser, and Google processes that data under Google’s privacy policy. We use it to count and compare page views, not to show you ads. You can block it with your browser’s tracking protection, a content blocker, or Google’s opt-out add-on.
Email, the contact form and the Wire letter
If you write the desk at doomsignals1@gmail.com, or use the contact form (run by Formspree), we get your message and address and use them only to reply.
The Wire letter is sent by Buttondown. If you subscribe, Buttondown keeps your email address so it can send the letter.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent or trade personal data. We do not run ads.
Live gauges
The live gauges and the Sun image load straight from the agencies that publish them, such as NOAA, USGS and NASA, plus a few public map and code hosts. Your browser contacts those sites directly when a gauge loads.
