As of 26 August 2026, WHO reports 5794 confirmed cases and 2786 deaths in the DRC (crude CFR 48.1%). WHO assesses risk in the DRC as very high; land-border countries high; regional/global low. The outbreak remains a Public Health Emergency of International Concern after the 18 Aug IHR Emergency Committee. Ituri remains the epicentre.
